About the

CLARE VALLEY

Discover Clare Valley’s Heritage with Valley Wine Tours

The Clare Valley has fostered some of Australia’s finest wine legends, like Nick Ryan, Brian Croser AO, Andrew Mitchell, Jeffrey Grosset, and Rob Geddes MW, all of whom have roots right here. So, why not stay a few days, unwind, and let us guide you through this incredible region?

Some Recent Questions We’ve Been Asked:

Q: Can we visit Annie’s Lane Winery?

A: Sort of! While 'Annie’s Lane' was sold in 2017 and now exists solely as a brand, we can certainly show you the original site. We’ll take you through its history, from the Springvale Winery of 1853 to Quelltaler in 1890, and then the Wolf Blass era from 1987. It's a fascinating story!

Q: Is the Clare Valley a small wine region?

A: Not at all! While it may feel intimate, the Clare Valley is an established wine region with more grapevines than the combined totals of the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, and Tasmania. Its charm lies in its small, family-run wineries—giving it a truly authentic feel.

Q: Is Lake Bumbunga in the Clare Valley?

A: No, Lake Bumbunga (the ‘Pink Lake’) is in the Mid-North region, about 50km west of the Clare Valley. The Clare Valley itself is a wine-growing area within the broader Mid-North of South Australia.

Q: Can we take a day trip to the Barossa Valley from the Clare Valley?

A: Absolutely! Many of our guests book three nights in the Clare Valley, enjoying a Clare tour with us one day and a Barossa tour the next. It’s like exploring a new port each day!

Q: Do you know the Polish Silesian and Prussian heritage sites?

A: Yes, and I’ve even arranged private access to museums and heritage sites for visitors tracing their ancestry. Clare Valley is a fantastic place to delve into these rich cultural histories.
